BENJAMIN STANWIX (b. 1986)

Benjamin Stanwix lives and works in Cape Town. Stanwix’s studio practice spans a variety of mediums including printmaking, drawing, tapestry, text work, and installation. He has an interest in how we make sense of the past, and the role of chance, mistakes, and mistranslation feature prominently in his work.

Stanwix’s work has been exhibited locally, and as part of several group shows internationally. His most recent solo shows are A Bad Night’s Sleep (2022/23) at 99 Loop, Rehearsal for a Public Address (2020), at Knysna Fine Art, and There Must Be Some Mistake (2019), at EBONY/CURATED. He has completed artist residencies at BoxoPROJECTS in Joshua Tree, California, and at Arteles, in Finland.
