"This series of paintings are about outer and inner journeys. Beginnings and endings, arrivals and departures. It's essentially a circular journey in its nature, one which is non-linear and layered.
Painting is a way of mapping my interior landscape which simultaneously acts as a mirror of the external world. These maps can guide one home, are embedded with wisdom and can lead one towards a deeper understanding of oneself.
As an abstract painter I rely solely on the inherent energy of materials, colour, texture, shapes and brushstroke to articulate and express my thoughts, feelings and ideas. Since the picture plane rarely offers anything representational, these elements become the very essence of my visual vocabulary.
The painting process is a ritual and a ceremony which restores the self into a balanced whole."
