‘ESSENCE’
A solo exhibition of painting exploring the essence of water: estuary and ocean
These paintings express my love of water. Growing up on the coast, immersed in the ocean and
rivers and later living on the Kwelerariver has made me realize the vitality of water to life, both
physical and spiritual.
The paintings express the qualities of changes in the ‘attitude’ and flexibility of water, altered by
light, wind, current and other forces.
Luminosity, viscosity, reflection, translucency, fluidity and mystery are vital to the essence of water
in this body of work, which seeks to reveal another realm.
