Jaycene-Fay Ravenscroft, Summer seeps through the door like honey
photographic print on archival paper, 27.2 x 27.2 cm (10 5/8 x 10 5/8 in.)
Summer seeps through the door like honey;
sweet and sticky,
it's golden light dripping from the walls,
as it greets me with a balmy kiss and warm embrace.
Searing the air with the aromatic scent
of hope and citrus,
salty air and wild roses,
Summer lingers for a while.
Perhaps longer than others.
And when it leaves, it leaves us breathless.
Gasping for the cooler air of Autumn.
Until we long for the ardour of Summer again.
~ Jaycene-Fay Ravenscroft
