When I first sat down to write an academic or conceptual statement for this body of work, I found that nothing felt true to what I had created. After a year of making, experimenting, failing, and beginning again, I realised the work speaks for itself. Any attempt to wrap it in theory or embellishment would feel hollow—unfaithful to what it is, what it conveys, and why it came into being.
This year has been tumultuous: filled with hardship, loss, grief, and moments when it seemed that the writing was, quite literally, on the wall. Each piece in this collection emerged as a deeply personal response—a way of answering questions I could not articulate in words, a process of finding clarity in uncertainty.
I think of each artwork as a visual time capsule, preserving the essence of emotion, acceptance, and resilience.
Ultimately, this body of work reflects a year-long journey through the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life—the highs, the lows, and everything in between. It stands as an ode to perseverance, to seeing things through, even when the writing is on the wall.
