KILT AUCTION
January 31, 2024
On Saturday the 20th of January the gallery hosted a hugely successful charity auction in aid of KILT. The wonderful Knysna Initiative for Learning and Teaching was established by Gill Marcus, the ex governor of the Reserve Bank, in 1996. Kusum Gained organised the memorable event, with wonderful food by île de païn, flowers by DP Ferreira, and music by Jose Dias.
Statement from KILT:
At KILT, we believe in the power of education and its ability to transform lives. We're on a mission to make a difference in South Africa, where youth unemployment is a pressing issue. Our comprehensive approach impacts 13,600 students and 500 educators in the Greater Knysna area.
Here's what sets KILT apart:
We're tackling the literacy and numeracy crisis head-on, focusing on comprehensive reading skills and the well-being of every child. We address crucial factors like hunger, safety, hope, and security, recognizing that these are as vital as ABCs and 123s. We nurture opportunity and security through 17 projects, empowering school leaders, teachers, and students. This foundation is essential for embracing knowledge.
